>LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Last year saw the launch of the Liverpool International Music Festival and featured artists from all around the world perform live here in Liverpool often free of charge. As well as the live performances the festival also marked the launch of the LIMF Pop-Up Gallery at Liverpool's Albert Dock which was open free of charge to the general public for a limited time last year.

The brief was to deliver artwork featuring a montage of performing artists based on the LIMFestival outline to 'Celebrate greatness, discover the new, inspire the next.' I provided three linking canvas panels for the exhibition entitled 'It's a Sound City'. The panels feature a linking montage of artists performing at the festival against a back-drop of some of Liverpool's great and famous landmarks The children dancing in the foreground represent the next generation of potential singers, dancers and artists being inspired by the current generation of artists.

The following year I was commissioned to produce a piece of live art to publicise the second music festival. Portraits of the artists performing at that year's festival were drawn in charcoal onto large scale letters spelling out the LIMF abbreviation. The work was carried approximately 24 hours before being unveiled to the local media and press outside Liverpool's St George's Hall. The mural was then completed inside St George's Hall on full view to the visiting public over the next two weeks before being placed on display next to the main stage at the actual festival itself in Sefton Park.

"Liverpool International Music Festival commissioned Liverpool illustrator Marc D Lewis to represent some of the key artists and themes of Liverpool International Music Festival 2014. In fitting with our focus on collaboration, Marc worked to bridge the world's of music and art by doing a piece using charcoal.
Filmed by Mark McNulty in St.George's Hall over a 12 hour day, this piece went from conception to realisation in under 24 hours."

>RIOTS REVISITED

2013 kick-started with a project entitled 'Riots Revisited' which is intended to be a reflection of the 2011 Riots as seen particularly from a community perspective. Seven pieces of music have been recorded incorporating poetry, singing and rap, all of which revolve around the riots.
I was commissioned by the Playmaker Group to create 8 pieces of artwork to accompany each piece and the results are currently on exhibition at the Liverpool Maritime Museum here in Liverpool.

>CHARCOAL GALLERY

Charcoal is probably my first love as it's such an expressive medium to use. I'm a huge fan of the old classic Universal horror films mainly for their atmospheric moods and charcoal allows me the opportunity to recreate these strong tonal contrasts in my artwork.
